The foundation
The Carver ATX Foundation was established in 2022 by community stakeholders committed to the growth, expansion, and preservation of the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center in Austin, Texas. Our early focus was to strengthen the Museum’s capacity through advocacy, outreach, education, and fundraising—helping it build a global brand that sets the standard for preserving and celebrating Black history, culture, and creative expression.

Inspired by the brilliance of Dr. George Washington Carver—we honor his dynamic legacy as a scientist, artist, educator, and humanitarian. Carver’s life’s work proved that innovation at the intersection of creativity and discovery could transform communities. His example has shaped the Foundation’s evolving vision.

While we remain steadfast in supporting the Carver Museum, our mission has broadened to embrace projects at the nexus of science, sustainability, civic engagement, and art. We believe these disciplines, working together, can address pressing challenges, spark new ideas, and create opportunities for learning and transformation.
From cultivating dynamic exhibitions and public programs to advancing initiatives in climate-conscious design, green technologies, and interdisciplinary education, the Foundation works to expand the reach and relevance of the Carver’s mission for the 21st century. Together, we are building a future where the ingenuity of George Washington Carver lives on—fueling creativity, resilience, and sustainable innovation for generations to come.
